Het eerste typisch Nederlands aan dit Global Doodle Gems boek,is natuurlijk het feit dat allemaal Nederlandse tekenaars zijn. Het idee ontstond het Dutchie team samen te brengen in 1 boek, de tekenaars en onze inkleurders! We nemen jullie mee op reis door ons Nederland, van Kinderdijk naar Amsterdam, via Hindelopen naar Delft. Natuurlijk mogen onze typisch Nederlandse lekkernijen ook niet ontbreken, het haringhappen, drop en schuimblokken, snert met roggebrood en natuurlijk onze bitterballen. We zijn een land van molens en windmolens, van water en vergezichten van vaste gewoontes zoals ons Sinterklaasfeest. Op de fiets door de tulpenvelden is een typisch Nederlandse bezigheid.
The first typical Dutch in this Global Doodle Gems book, of course, is the fact that we are all Dutch artists. The idea was to bring the Dutchie team together in one book, the artists and our colorists! We take you on a journey through our country The Netherlands, from Kinderdijk to Amsterdam, via Hindeloopen to Delft. Of course our typical Dutch delicacies may not be missing, the herring bite, drop and foam blocks, pea soup with rye bread and of course our bittterballen. We are a land of mills and windmills, water and vistas and fixed habits like our Sinterklaas party. On the bike through the tulip fields is a typical Dutch occupation.
Eerste indruk Het valt mij meteen op hoe kleurrijk en hoe echt Nederlands het boek is. Als ik het boek snel doorkijk zie je echt veel herkenbaren tekenen wat echt Nederland kenmerkt. Zoals het kussende mannetje en vrouwtje, het Amsterdams paaltje, tulpen, molens en zelfs een gedeelte van het liedje “Zo gaat de molen”. Ik ben erg gemotiveerd om hier in dit boek te gaan kleuren.
First impression It is the first thing to notice, how colorfull and how real Dutch this book is. When I take a quick vieuw, a lot of drawings to recognize, typical Dutch for me! Like the kissing couple, the Amsterdam sign, tulips, mills and even a part of the song “So goes the windmill”. I am very motivated to start coloring.

Als je het boek open doet zie je alleen de titel van het boek, wie het getekend heeft. En als je daarna weer verder gaat kijken staat er op de volgende bladzijde iets verteld hoe je hun kan benaderen. Dat is oa via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram en een blog op WordPress. Op de volgende bladzijde wordt in het kort iets verteld hoe dit boek tot stand is gekomen en wie er allemaal aan meegewerkt hebben. Daarna zie je over 4 bladzijden in het klein de tekeningen die je eventueel kan gaan kleuren. Wie het getekend heeft zie je op de linker bladzijde van het boek. En aan de rechter kant zie je de tekening. Achterin het boek zie je 2 bladzijden waar je zelf een soort kleurenkaart kan maken.

When you open the book, you see the titel of the book, tells you who is on the cover. The next page has information about how to reach GDG people, through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and there blog on WordPress. The next page tells you about how the book became this book, and who worked on it. After that, 4 pages with tumbnails. Every chapter starts with the name of the artist. In the back of the book, you find 2 templates as your colorchart.

Ik heb 4 willekeurige kleurplaten gekozen uit het boek en wil graag deze laten zien.
I choosed 4 pages to color, just like that, and I like to show them to you.
De eerste kleurplaat die ik heb gekozen is getekend door Johanna Ans en gekleurd met stiften. Dit was erg prettig om hierin mee te kleuren. Het papier drukte niet door en de kleurafgifte was ook zeer mooi en duidelijk. Ik ervaar dit als erg prettig om met stiften te kleuren
The first coloring I did, was drawn by Johanna Ans and I colored with markers. Thhat was pretty nice. Paper did not bleed through en the colors where bright. My experince was a good one.
De tweede kleurplaat die ik heb gekozen is getekend door Marieke Raterman en ik heb deze gekleurd met fineliners. Ook met fineliners kan je goed in dit kleurboek kleuren. Zelf vind ik deze tekening erg geschikt om met fineliners te kleuren omdat de tekening erg fijn getekend is. En dan krijg je een mooier effect om met fineliners te werken dan bijvoorbeeld met stiften is mijn ervaring.
The second coloring I did was drawn by Marieke Raterman and I colored with fineliners. Really great to work with. They where “made” for this lovely fine lined drawing. Gave me great pleasure, and the result was very nice for me.
De derde is getekend door Sabine van Ee en heb ik gekleurd met kleurpotloden. De kleurpotloden gaven ook erg mooie kleuren af. Zelf vind ik kleuren met potloden iets moeilijker dan met stiften of fineliners, maar ondanks dat is het mij toch redelijk gelukt en ben ik blij met het resultaat.
My 3rd choice, was to color a drawing from Sabine van Ee with nameless colored pencils. It worked pretty goed. I rather color with markers and fineliners, but I am satisfied with the result.
De vierde is getekend door Arianne Schimmel en heb deze gekleurd met stiften. Ik vond deze klompen zo leuk dat ik er iets meer mee moest doen dan alleen maar kleuren in het kleurboek. Ik heb deze 5 keer gekopieerd en dus ook gekleurd. En daarna heb ik er een 3d kleurplaat van gemaakt.
The last and 4th drawing is made by Arianne Schimmel and I colored with markers. I liked those wooden shoes that much, that I had to do more than just coloring. I colored the drawing 5 times, and made a 3D special!
Mijn mening
Ik vind dit een erg leuk boek en de tekeningen die er in staan is voor ieder wat wils. Ook zitten er tekeningen bij (zoals de klompen) waar je iets meer mee kan doen dan alleen maar kleuren. Ook staat er voorin het boek dat dit is toegestaan, als het maar voor eigen gebruik is. Dit vind ik dus een erg positief punt. Het papier vind ik persoonlijk iets te dun. Je kunt goed met stiften, verf, potloden, fineliners werken, maar ben bang dat als je alcohol markers gaat gebruiken het doordrukt. En als je toch met alcohol markers wilt werken doe er dan extra papiertje tussen zodat het niet door kan drukken naar de volgende tekening. Want ik merk dat als je met stiften werk, het soms al licht is doorgedrukt naar de volgende tekening. Dus ben bang dat alcohol markers dus helemaal doordrukt. Maar verder ben ik zeer positief over dit boek en wil ik het boek het cijfer 8.0 geven.
My opinion: I really love this book and the drawings, For every person something to color. Also the drawings that you can use for something more than just coloring, like the wooden shoes. In the front of the book there is a note that you can copy for your own good, and I like that. The paper is thin. You can color with markers, paint, pencils and fineliners, but I am afraid that when you use alcoholmarkers, that it will bleed through. Use a protection sheet and the problem is solved. I am very positive of this book, and for me it is a 8

GDG “Annual Colorist Choice Collection 2016”, personal review
When you have a B-Day to celebrate, you have to do something special, and we as Global Doodle Gems, did something really special together with our colorists from our fangroup
Ultimate Global Doodle Gems Adult Coloring Collection… Chosen by colorists ! We had a huge nomination round on our Global Doodle Gems Coloring Group, colorists nominated their favorite drawings by submitting their colored pieces from the Global Doodle Gems Books published from the first year July 2015 to April 2016. Over 500 Drawings were nominated for the book. We had a Jury of 7 Judges from the large Coloring Groups, vote on their favourites and here is the result, We hope you will enjoy it ! The Cover was colored by Vero Pignot and the colored piece on the cover was chosen from all the nominated colored pieces… then Vero was asked to color the back with the portrait of Maria Wedel, the founder of Global Doodle Gems, in the same style. Cover drawings are by Orbleu’s and Alfred E. Villanueva.

There are so many different artists in this book, and a lot of my favorites, that I did not let my eyes choose, but a random pick up…. just opened the book somewhere, and started to color. The first that came out was a drawing from Leen Margot (GDG Harmony)
I made a small video of this coloring, how that I worked with Caran d’Ache Neopastel 1, for me also it was the first time to work with that material, And I really do love the stuff…it is up to you if you should like to use it in your books too.
The second drawing that I did was from artist Ena Tera (Global Doodle Gems Volume 7), and YES! a mandala, I love to color mandala’s. Now I have to tell you a secret, I colored with Faber Castel Polychromos! Is that something strange? Yes for me it is, they are not coloring pencils for me, “just” blender pencils for my favorites, the Caran d’Ache Pablo! I am happy with the result, but no, these Polychromos are really not “my” pencills.
The 3rd coloring that I picked was from artist Ahmed Fouad, I love his work, really love his work! This one is in GDG Mandala Collection Volume 1, an early drawing from him, he grew so hard, his work became more and more better, and I am addicted to his drawings. I colored with Steadtler Triplus Brilliance, Stabilo 88 and my favorites, Caran d’Ache Pablo
What will the 4th blind choice bring me, oh, a drawing from my friend Lilan Chen from Taiwan. I reallized, that I never colored one of hers before…I must be ashamed a little. But here I go, this drawing is also in GDG Minicollection Volume 4, and not only in, it is on the cover too! I show you hers too, because the way she colored, is gorgeous, she used pointillisme technique! I only used 7 colors of Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer (I had them from a friend to try her oldies) and my Sakura Koi Waterbrush
I will show you the video that I made from all 4 drawings if you like to see the work in progress too!
And I did more colorings, before this book started to become the colorist choice. I will show those to you just for inspiration!

GDG “Colour It”, Book 1 & 2 by Ondine Summers, inspiration
As promised, I have done another blog about the gorgeous books from artist Ondine Summers. She makes gorgeous old school tattoo art drawings, which are really fun to color.
We will start with GDG “Colour It”, book 1
To give you a nice impression of the book, I will show you the inside…
Let us start with some coloring! These beautiful colourings are done by Lynni Ex. I think that Lynni used her Faber Castel Polychromos, because they are her favourites!
Myself, I did a coloring with Caran d’Ache Neocolor 2, very old stuff that I have, but never really used it before, so for old school coloring, it became time to use my old school material!
I just used my “I-do-what-I-do-and-will-see-what-it-will-become” technique; that for me is the way to get familiar with brands that I have not used before…. so I just started with layering some different colors of red!
Wow, this is fun, after using a Sakura Koi Waterbrushpen, you can add some more color, and it will give it a whole different look, I think I am gonna like these Neocolors… There is even a golden and silver crayon….fun!
It works up pretty fast, and it feels like it is easy to do, because when the water hits the color, it becomes fluid almost immediately, and it blends damn good! I have to practice more of course, I think that I could get a lot more out of these mediums.
But for my first attempt, I am really happy with the result, I hope you like it too. I also want to show you, even if you use a material for the first time, that the result can be good! It is also a “practice run”, to learn more about what you can do! I am never afraid to learn new things, and show the results, even if it can be much better. By showing your first work, and then keep practising, you will also grow!
Ondine herself, colored her work too of course, look what she did! Ondine used Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils; really good and professional pencils, You have to be good, or practice a lot, because it is not just a pencil!
I really love the way those drawings are done, they inspire me too!

I also asked Cynthia Elhorst from “Kleuren voor Volwassenen”, to help me to make this review for Ondine, she did a real nice job, using Decotime Alcoholmarkers, a brand new type in The Netherlands (we buy it in the Action stores) ; very very cheap alcoholmarkers, that I can even make a comparison with mine ! Only the Decotime costs 95 eurocents for 3 markers, and the ShinHan almost 3 euros a piece!
Cynthia told me that she was inspired by her Koi Fish, I really like how she brought this fish alive!
And look, even the backside of the drawing is an artpiece, I like to see those pictures too!
Her second drawing was a skull, she loves to color skulls!
Isn’t she gorgeous!
This one is a masterpiece I believe, the Elephant, so beautifully done by Lynni Ex. Gorgeous bright and beautiful colors! I like to see when people think out of there colorbox and use colors that are not reality colors. It makes this picture so much alive, an artpiece!
Ondine of course colored too, look to her inspiration for you…
I saved a small video specially for the end of this blog, colored by Peggy Sue Karunding, with Promarkers, pastels and a white gelpen. Why a video? She sent in so much Work In Progress shots, that it is nice to see her black & white fish become a beautiful colored fish!
Look, when you see the same drawings next to eachother, colored by 2 different people, how great this will look when 10 people color it their own way…then you will have a pond of gorgeous fish!

The one and only Angie Thompson coloring story:
I’m a passionate person. I love my family and friends. I love animals. I love people (well, most of them anyway). I love food. I love art. I LOVE COLORING!!
My coloring story started…well, I don’t know my exact age…but some of my earliest memories include coloring books, crayons and laying on the floor on my stomach, going to town. My parents would color with me. My sister and I would color together. My Grandma would sit me up at the dining room table and I would color my little heart out. My aunt would doodle dinosaurs and fun little things for my sister and me. My other Grandma had a gallon ice cream bucket of Crayola crayons and a huge stack of color books that my cousins and I would delve into and color for hours together. I can’t ever remember a time when I didn’t have paper, crayons and coloring books available to me. I’ve had lulls in my life where I take a break from coloring, but I have always found my way back to color.

As an adult, I have a huge coloring book collection and the biggest set of Crayola crayons that I could find. I unabashedly colored in my “kid” style books for years and years. Early 2015 the world of adult coloring books opened to me. My friend Venessa and I ordered Johanna Basford’s books….and the adult coloring world exploded! We founded the International Coloring Club Facebook Group and the hobby grew for me!

One of my favorite finds was the Global Doodle Gems group. I happened into them before the first book hit the presses….and I was hooked. I’m enamored with the talent of independent artists….and I love to support them. I followed the group daily and I have participated in many of the coloring challenges. The group has always generously provided “freebie” pages to play and experiment with. I was able to learn more about individual artists, form some friendships. I was even given the opportunity and honor to interview willing artists.

It has been fun to watch the Global Doodle Gems books grow. The cooperative group is truly fascinating to me. The artists are all very supportive of each other and the colorists that support them. It’s always really neat when you post a picture and the artist themselves will comment or like it! Very cool!

Along with books, I’ve added a variety of supplies to my personal inventory. I’ve tried a LOT of pencils, crayons and markers out in the last year or so. My personal favorites are Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, Lyra pencils, Sharpie Ultra Fine Tip Markers, Copic Markers, PrismaColor Markers, and Faber Castell Pitt Pastel pencils. Crayola Crayons will ALWAYS be the only crayon I will use. Want to know about a product…message me, I’ve probably tried it!

Angie colored GDG “Colors of Whimsy”, vol 2, Bev Choy
Why do I color? Well…it’s super relaxing. I like seeing how different shades of color can make pictures come to life. I can feel stressed, take 10 minutes to myself and put some color on a page…and I feel better. I think I may be lucky in that I can visualize how I want my shading to look, how I want the colors to contrast. I have learned a lot about shading and adding depth to pictures. I even have been recently inspired to pick up some card stock and a pen and create some doodles of my own….something I would have NEVER even tried over a year ago.

Hmmm…I guess if you want to know any my personal details. I’m a proud mom. I have one son, Gene, who is turned 12 in May. I’m engaged to my fiancé, Gil. We have been together for a little over three years now. We hope to move in together in the future eventually marry, but there isn’t a rush. I am lucky that I found my best friend the second time around. Gene, Gil and I share 3 dogs, Beau (mini Australian Shepherd), Clyde (black lab) and Buddy (Australian Shepherd mixed). We also have 6 cats combined….Liberty, Henry, OilPan, Tank, Soggy, and Raven. I’m also a proud Auntie to Lillian (13) and Cheyenne (11).

I also enjoy reading, crafting, movies, video games and spending time with my friends and family. I love volunteer work for animals and I happily help out with the organizations that my son is involved in. Coloring is my favorite hobby though, our living room always has some sort of coloring supply cluttering up the sofa or end table.

GDG Volume 8, inspiration blog SPOTLIGHT!!! Elisabeth Delhaye, colorist.
To remind you…the inside of the book…..
I am so happy wit colorist Elisabeth Delhaye….yes Elisabeth…I am really happy with you! She always makes a lot of work in progres shots… so we can all see how a drawing becomes alive. She colored one of my drawings in Volume 8…and I love it!
Ik ben zo blij met Elisabeth Delhaye… ja Elisabeth… ben echt blij met jou! Ze maakt altijd veel WIP scans… dan kan ik jullie ook laten zien hoe een tekening tot leven komt door kleur. We beginnen met een plaat van mij zelf in Volume 8…. en ik vind hem super!
The next coloring by Elisabeth is a drawing from artist: Laéty Esperanza What a sweet and nice hummingbird this is… I do love the drawing and the soft colors!.
De volgende plaat, ingekleurd door Elisabeth is van Laéty Esperanza. Wat een lieve mooie kolibrie is dit…. ik vind én de tekening én de zachte kleuren mooi, past geweldig!

Maar we zijn er nog niet… kijk wat Elisbeth heeft gemaakt van de plaat van Ireena Sergeeva…. ook al zo lief en zacht!
And if it’s not enough, another one of mine colored by Elisabeth. She wrote about this drawing: When pink has a sweet meeting with blue, and they come entangled each other !!!! (quand le rose a un rendez-vous tendre avec le bleu, et qu’ils se mélangent !!!!!)

Global Doodle Gems Volume 7 Personal review to inspire you
As I told you before, the Global Doodle Gems Epic Collection, contains 10 different artists in 10 differnet styles. I had the oppertunity to color some originals from my friend Peggy Sue Karunding… and I did. I also discovered, that I already did one before… but I don’t care. because a learned a lot new things about coloring, so I still had fun…
Zoals ik al eerder vertelde, The Epic Collection van Global Doodle Gems, bevat ieder volume 10 verschillende artiesten die ieder hun eigen stijl hebben. Ik kreeg de kans van mijn vriendin Peggy Sue Karunding om wat van haar originelen in te kleuren.. en die pakte ik aan. Ook ontdekte ik, dat ik er eerder eentje van haar had ingekleurd… maar dat gaf niet om een zelfde in te kleuren, heb intussen namelijk natuurlijk ook weer vanalles geleerd op kleurgebied… het plezier was er opnieuw!

I used Stabilo 68 to color both drawings, I did the background with Van Eyck Softpastels, as usual with my fingers. One of them kind of realistic and the other I did before, totally out of the Colorbox. I like that sometimes to do, feels like a kid, the days that you did not really think about how things “should” be…. Ik heb Stabilo 68 gebruikt voor allebi de platen, en met mijn vingers gebruik gemaakt van Van Eyck Softpastelkrijt. Eentje een soort van realistisch ingekleurd, en de andere totaal out of the Colorbox. Ik hou ervan dat soms te doen, als een kind, uit de tijd dat je nog niet echt hoefde na te denken over hoe iets er uit zou “moeten” zien.
Another challenge for me, also a drawing from Peggy. I wanted it to feel like magic…and for me this journey of coloring was magic… I used Stabilo 68 and my Prismacolor Premier Pencils. A lot of layers, to make Buddha “shine” as a light through the leaves of that forrest… I hope you feel and see the same as I did… because I felt great after this drawing to color.
Nog een uitdaging, ook een plaat van Peggy. Ik wilde dat het magisch zou zijn…. en deze trip van inkleuren was magie! Ik heb Stabilo 68 gebruikt en mijn Prismacolor Premier Potloden. heel veel laagjes om Boeddha te laten “schijnen”, door het dak van gebladerte in dat bos…. Ik hoop dat je ziet en voelt zoals ik dat deed, want ik voelde me heerlijk na het inkleuren van deze plaat.
I wrote this text with this drawing, it just came into my mind: If you go through the trees … can not see the forest … it is then a Buddha … or appearances perhaps ?
Ik schreef deze tekst bij de plaat, kwam spontaan in me op Als je door de bomen… het bos niet meer kan zien… is het dan een Boeddha…

Of course I colored drawings from other artists to, I colored 2 freebies. The first I did was from artist: Ena Tera. I love this kind of drawings. because you can make a lot of different kind of colorings on these. I choosed for an “easy” way to color. Van Eyck Softpastel to start with my fingers, and after that I grabbed my Bruynzeel Design Pastel Pencils. A little bit of Posca Unipen, and a kind of gems where born!
Natuurlijk heb ik ook platen van andere artiesten ingekleurd, 2 freebies. De eerste die ik maakte was van artiest: Ena Tera. Ik hou van dit soort tekeningen omdat er zoveel mogelijkheden mee kunnen. Ik heb voor een “makkelijke” gekozen. Van Eyck Pastelkrijt met mijn vingers opbrengen, daarna mijn Bruynzeel Design Pastelpotloden erbij gepakt. Een beetje Posca Unipen en een soort van edelstenen zijn geboren!
The last coloring for this review is a freebie from artist: Maggie Lin. I used Stabilo 68, Posca Unipen and Sakura Metallic gellyroll Gold... the gem had to shine a little bit for me!

This drawing / coloring also inspired me to make a text in it…of course I will share that with you, for those who missed it. Ook deze tekening inspireerde mij een tekst er in te verwerken, voor diegene die hem nog niet zagen, deel ik die ook met jullie.
I hope you liked what I made of my personal review. I did this on printed pages, because I don’t have the book yet, but you al know that I already experienced the paper. All our books are single side printed, with a cardboard between the pages, you can use anything you want in the GDG Books. Using “wet” materials is no problem, alcoholmarkers, pens, ecoline, goache, its all possible….
ik hoop dat jullie weer genoten hebben van mijn persoonlijke bevindingen. Dit keer heb ik zelf gekleurd op uitgeprinte platen, omdat mijn boek er nog niet is. maar jullie weten intussen dat ik bekend ben met ons materiaal. Al onze GDG boeken zijn enkelzijdig bedrukt, met een dun karton ertussen is vrijwel ieder materiaal te gebruiken in onze boeken. Zelfs “natte” materialen als alcoholmarkers, waterverf, ecoline, stiften… het is allemaal mogelijk.

GDG The Little Big Book of Egg Designs Maria Wedel/ Johanna Ans
What started as a question from Maria, would you like to color a bunch of eggs for me, ended in a book that we made together. Maria had done a lot of eggs, in her famous twister chill pill style, and yes, I like those so I said yes. There are different sizes of eggs, pages with 16, 9, 4, 2 and 1 big egg. When I started to look at one of the big eggs…I did not know in the first place how to color it…. so I started to fill in with my style of doodle / tangle…. and it became a great egg…and a newborn idea!!!
Wat begon als een vraag van Maria, zou jij een heleboel eieren voor me in willen kleuren, eindigde in een boek waar wij samen aan hebben gewerkt. Maria tekende heel veel eieren in haar inmiddels beroemde twister chill pill stijl, en ja, daar hou ik van, dus ik heb ja gezegd. Er zijn verschillende formaten eieren, pagina’s met 16, 9, 4, 2 en 1 groot 1. Toen ik mijn eerste grote ei tegenkwam, wist ik niet gelijk hoe ik die zou gaan inkleuren…. en ben ik gewoon begonnen met intekenen in mijn doodle en tangle stijl…. en dat werd me een mooi ei! Er ontstond een nieuw idee!

If I would like to do more “fill ins”? Yes!!! I am very proud to work together with Maria…. So there will be 10 pages in the book from Johanna Ans, and the rest is the work of Maria. 5 pages Johanna filled in, in the finished eggs from Maria, and 5 pages with blanc eggs, that became the typicall Johanna Ans style eggs. And no, it is not an easter egg book, not at all…. we just wanted to do another way of funny drawings and coloring. Because fun it is…. I colored hundreds of eggs… And we had a lot of fun, working on this book. There are pages, done by Maria, she drew, I fill in, I colored Maria’s eggs, and the filled in eggs…. 4 times the same / different eggs to color….and it was gorgeous to do!
Of ik meer eieren in zou willen tekenen. JA! En alleen al trots dat ik gevraagd ben door Maria met haar aan een boek te werken. En zo zijn er dus 10 pagina’s in het boek waar ik aan heb meegewerkt. 5 pagina’s met eieren van Maria die ik verdeer heb ingetekend, en 5 pagina’s waar ik geheel blanco eieren in de typische Johanna Ans stijl heb ingetekend. En nee, het is geheel geen paaseierenboek hoor, maar gewoon een lollige vorm om in te tekenen en in te kleuren. Want leuk is het, ik heb niet voor niets honderden eieren in kunnen kleuren. En een lol ook wat we gehad hebben tijdens het maken van dit boek. Er zijn bladzijdes, die eerst zijn getekend door Maria, die ik verder heb ingevuld, de bladzijdes gekleurd zoals Maria ze tekende maar ook weer mijn eigen ingetekende eieren ingekleurd… en het was geweldig om te doen!

How can I people tell how I color, if I don’t know it myself…. what kind of technique do you use Johanna, that’s a question I hear more and more. I believe that I do techniques, but which? I really dont know.
Hoe kan ik mensen vertellen hoe ik kleur, als ik het zelf niet beschrijven kan…. wat voor technieken gebruik je Johanna, dat is een vraag die ik steeds vaker krijg. Ik geloof best dat ik technieken gebruik, maar welke? Ik weet het echt niet.
I look at the drawing that I want to color, grab me some colors that I believe that it would fit…clean my workspace and I just start… sometimes I use all the colors I grabbed, but most of the time there will be some not-used which I put back in there box… The 5 Stabilo’s stayed, from the 7 Touchlitt I choosed, I used just 4
Ik kijk naar de tekening die ik wil inkleuren, pak wat kleuren waarvan ik denk, die passen er mooi bij… maak mijn werkruimte leeg en ga beginnen… soms gebruik ik alles wat ik heb gepakt, maar meestal verdwijnen er juist weer kleuren terug in hun doosje. Dus vaak werk ik juist met minimaal materiaal. De 5 Stabilo’s zijn gebelven, van de 7 Touchlitt, heb ik er maar 4 gebruikt
Yes, I blend, I mix, I color with all kind of materials, I use them separate and mixed with each other. I use dry paper sticks, fingers, water brushes…but no materials as Vaseline, oil or else… because I wont, it just does not fit with me…. that’s why I call my coloring “I do what I do”…. and it works
Ja, ik meng, ik mix, ik kleur met allerlei soorten materialen, ik gebruik ze apart maar ook door elkaar. Ik gebruik droge doezelaars, vingers, waterverfpenselen…. maar geen vaseline, olie of iets anders… gewoon omdat ik dat niet wil, het past niet bij mij… ik noem mijn techniek van kleuren niet voor niets “Ik doe mar wa en het word wa”

My technique is all about “Think OUT of your Colorbox”, let the kid in you out and free, how did you color when you where a kid…the time that we did not think about techniques, but just colored because we loved to do it…. That’s what I do…and in the meantime, as an adult, I can make myself a picture in mind, how it could become! I don’t think in making mistakes, because I believe, there are no mistakes to make, it just can become different as you thought it should be…. let the thinking behind you and just do! The “blending technique” with the Stabilo’s, I discribed in another workshop, here on this page…. I also just tried, if it was possible!!
Mijn techniek is gebaseerd op…. Denk “Out of the Colorbox”, laat het kind in je los, hoe kleurde je als kind… de tijd dat we geheel niet nadachten over techniek, maar gewoon kleurden omdat we dat zo leuk vonden! Dat is nog steeds wat ik doe… en intussen als volwassene, kan ik me wel een voorstelling maken van hoe het er uit komt te zien. Ik denk niet in dat gaat fout, omdat ik geloof in het feit dat je geen fouten kunt maken, het kan er anders uit komen zien dan je dacht… dus zelfs daar over nadenken proberen los te laten, en gewoon doen! De “blend techniek” met de Stabilo 68 vind je terug hier op de pagina…. Ik heb ook maar gewoon geprobeerd of het kon!

GDG Geometry Flow, with MrEnd and his assistant Bryan Chai
For the first time really work together with MrEnd and his Assistant Bryan Chai. They wrote and translated the introduction themselves. I am responsible for the Dutch translation.

Voor de eerste keer een directe samenwerking met MrEnd en zijn assistent Bryan Chai. Ze hebben zelf de introductietekst geschreven en vertaald, ikzelf verantwoordelijk voor de Nederlandse tekst.
岸 Mr.END 致力媒體工作文創策劃18年餘年，曾包辦高雄跨年、燈會、耶誕等大大小小的活動。2002年設計之作品／星光閃閃耶誕裝置，被CNN評選為亞洲十大主題耶誕裝飾，2010年被 La Vie 雜誌／第一百期保存版–列為「台灣百大創意接班人」之一。期間也參與紀念性音樂創作，作品包括：高雄捷運之歌–串起每個角落的希望、紀航戀歌–韓秀香、潛艦之歌–大力水手等。
Mr.END works for media work, cultural & creative over 18 years, that undertake Kaohsiung Countdown event, Lantern Festival, and other kinds of exhibitions and events. His Christmas artwork was chosen by CNN for 2002 Top 10 Asia Christmas Decoration, and was featured in 100 Taiwan Creative Successors by “La Vie” magazine. He has also participated in music creative work with music producers from Taiwan.
He has designed KEY VISION for Taiwan government event and exhibition, his artwork is also published on the cover of Taiwan Kaohsiung magazine. He cooperated with Best Hokkien Male Singer (Ric) and Best Band (Monkey Pilot) from Golden Melody Awards, they advocate crossover of all ideas from art and music. He is also the coordinator of marketing for Fangliao-F3 Railway Art Village and Jiuru Street Art Factory. Use the elements of Mandala as the creative foundation. As it represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself. The geometric concepts combined with the flow line tension are often applied. Through the techniques of symmetrical, overlapping, perspective, copy, and extended to demonstrate and complete the fine detailed hand-painted works.

Mr.END werkt voor culturele en creatieve media voor meer dan 18 jaar, voor Kaohsiung Countdown gebeurtenis, Lantaarn Festival, en andere vormen van tentoonstellingen en evenementen. Zijn kunstwerk over Kerstmis werd gekozen door CNN voor 2002 Top 10 Asia Christmas Decoration, en opgenomen in de lijst van 100 Taiwan succesvolste kunstenaars van “La Vie” magazine. Hij heeft ook deelgenomen aan een creatief muzikaal intermezzo met muziek producenten uit Taiwan.
Hij heeft ontworpen “KEY VISION” voor de Taiwan ese overheid, voor een evenement en tentoonstelling, zijn kunst isook gepubliceerd op de cover van het Taiwanese Kaohsiung magazine. Hij werkte samen met de beste Hokkien Man Singer (Ric) en Beste Band (Monkey Pilot) van de Golden Melody Awards, ze pleiten voor crossover voor alle ideeën van kunst en muziek. The Special Edition has a transparant paper inbetween, so you can make your own art from the drawing below, draw the part you like to draw!. In the GDG Book, there will also be a blanc paper in it, so you can draw your own MrEnd version
In de Special Edition zit een transparant vel, een soort vellum, tussen iedere plaat in om je eigen kunstwerk er op over te trekken, precies dat deel wat jou aanstaat. In de GDG versie zit er ook steeds een blanco vel papier tussen, om jou eigen MrEnd versie te tekenen.
MrEnd’s drawings become alive with colors! Isn’t it gorgeous to see what you can do with the blanco page, it will be a different drawing if you like. You can take parts of it, and draw further on in your own style.

The original book “Voice of the Feminine Spirit” has a limited edition of 200 pieces in Taiwan, where MrEnd lives and works. I am one of the lucky “guys” that I have this in my collection, and signed by MrEnd too!
Het originele book “Voice of the Feminine Spirit” is een gelimiteerde uitgave van 200 boeken in Taiwan, waar MrEnd woont en werkt. Ik ben 1 van de gelukkige om dat boek in mijn bezit te hebben, gesigneerd door MrEnd ook nog!
But it is not about my book, it is about the book of GDG and MrEnd. I had some collage pictures from MrEnd’s FB, to show you. Its his proces working on the first book of this collection.
